Oliver Jason Moore

ADMETUS

Jason studied as a scholarship student at The New Zealand School of Dance. In 1991 Jason danced and toured with The Royal New Zealand Ballet performing in Wolfgang Amadeus, Cinderella, John Trimmer and Friends. During 1992, Jason worked extensively with contemporary New Zealand choreographers. The highlight of the year was The Race, choreographed by Michael Parmenter. At the beginning of 1993, Jason settled in Australia and was contacted by The Australian Opera. During this time, he performed choreography by Graeme Murphy, Kim Walker and other noted Australian artists. From 1993 to 1995, Jason toured with The Really Useful Company’s production of Cats through Australia and Asia in the role of Alonzo/Rumpus Cat. In the second half of 1995, Jason featured as The Warrior Prince in the world premiere of The Australian Opera’s The Eighth Wonder. 1996 saw Jason perform for the Sydney Festival in The Aboriginal Protestors directed by Noel Tovey. Jason subsequently toured to Germany with this production. In this year he also performed as a soloist in Alcina, choreographed by Sir Robert Helpmann for The Australian Opera, Albrecht in Auckland Ballet’s season of Giselle by Mary-Jane O’Reilly then to the Taiwan Festival of the Arts with Norman Hall’s Four Generations. In 1997, Jason performed in Opera Australia productions of La Traviata, Die Fledermaus and Julius Caesar then Auckland Ballet’s production of Romeo and Juliet by MJ O’Reilly in the role of Romeo. 1998-99 saw Jason attend The Australian Ballet School teachers training course then return to New Zealand to work for Auckland Dance Company touring extensively throughout the North Island.
